Welcome to Fox Chapel Area Youth Soccer. As a volunteer run organization, our success is determined by the commitment of community mom's and dad's. We welcome the opportunity to support your child’s interest in soccer and hope it will become a lifelong activity for your child. And, we invite and welcome any support you can provide our program.

PARENTAL COMMITMENT
BE PROMPT and PREPARED for GAMES. Arrive well in advance of the start time to allow for proper warm up and check-in by the referees. Be in complete uniform- black shorts, team shirt and socks, shin guards are a MUST for every player.
GET INVOLVED. The effectiveness of this program is solely dependent on volunteer staff. There are many behind the scenes responsibilities which require attention. The roles are many and varied: coaching, board positions , coordinators, staffing the concession stand, tournament set-up and field maintenance ( nets up/down in spring /fall, goals moved and set up for tournaments, sand bag placement, re-positioning of goals after mowing …..). Too often these tasks are accomplished through the efforts of a few people. We need your help at many levels, so please make yourself available .We cannot meet the needs of the children without community support.
COACH A TEAM. Be a hero to your child and your community. There are many learning tools available for the new and experienced parent. Clinics, coaching license courses and many reading materials are available to support your commitment to the children.
ASSIST YOUR COACH. Establish e-mail lists, make and distribute snack and game schedules, attend practices. Coaches need assistants to do many things to include covering a game or practice that they cannot make due to other obligations.
HELP IN OTHER WAYS. Like any operating organization, Fox Chapel Area Youth Soccer has other program needs besides coaching and referees. The registration forms offer various ways you can help this organization be successful. Step up and be someone in your child's soccer life.
AVOID THE BIG PLAYER DON'T. Players should not get ears pierced during or before the season. Players are not allowed to wear any jewelry during the game to include starter stud earrings. There are no exceptions due to insurance regulations.

RESPECT OUR REFEREES Please set a positive example for the children in this program by abiding by these general rules of conduct.
At all times and at all levels parents, coaches and players are expected to abide by the referee decisions.
Dissent or abuse will not be tolerated. Anyone with a reason for discussion may direct their concerns to the coordinator.
Your Child can "make the call!" The club is dedicated, at all levels, to providing the club with the best trained referees possible. The Saturday scramble provides an introduction to the referee process and is the initial training ground for those wanting to further their career. Children who are not eligible to become a certified referee (those under 12 years of age) are used for the Saturday scramble. Children are eligible to take the referee course once they reach the age of 12. Once they pass the course they are qualified to referee at the U-9/10 age group and higher.
In our efforts to support and educate our referees, we provide a mentoring system for these new referees. Our coordinators designate an older, experienced referee to monitor the new referee during a game and offer half time and post game instruction to improve their capabilities. This will be done at Saturday games.

PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
The soccer association offers additional opportunities for development beyond the regular practice night through our player development officer (PDO). The PDO will introduce players and their parents to the fundamentals of soccer. Child centered and age appropriate, the clinics will provide interactive games that maximize everyone’s touches on the ball and makes learning soccer skills fun! Parents will have the opportunity to learn and practice with their children under the PDO guidance and the assistance of parents/coaches. The role of parents/coaches at the clinics is to assist the PDO in organizing the various activities and providing instruction when asked by the PDO. Schedules for each age group will be posted on the web site or be sure to check with your coach.
